Log, the premiere critical journal on architecture and the contemporary city in the United States (and a catalyst for similar journals now being produced in France, Italy, and Spain), provides an ongoing platform for the publication and exchange of ideas both bearing on and emanating from architecture and the city today. Published three times a year, Log reacts to current architectural thinking and production both in "open" issues, to which any writer can submit essays for consideration, and thematic issues, which are also open to all writers, but are based on the expertise of specially invited authors or guest editors. In an age of what is arguably an overload of information and image saturation, Log presents—in the slow space of the printed page—informed critical writing for the student, the teacher, the architect, and many more who care deeply about the built environment and its development.

Cynthia Davidson, director of the Anyone project, is the founding editor of Log and former editor of Inland Architect Magazine (Chicago) and ANY magazine (New York), as well as editor of the Writing Architecture series of books and a writer herself. In the 1990s, she organized the series of ten international, multidisciplinary Anyone architecture conferences that convened in cities around the world and produced books documenting those events. The network she developed included a broad range of architects, historians, and critics representing multiple generations and cultures. Beginning in 2003, she reengaged and expanded that network to produce Log, a magazine that provides a platform for critical reflections on the aesthetic, technical, social, economic, and political issues that impact architecture and the city today.

The Log "protagonists," or editorial board, includes Denise Bratton, an architectural editor and writer based in Los Angeles; Tina Di Carlo, an architectural curator and writer based in London and Oslo; Catherine Ingraham, professor of architecture at Pratt Institute and a writer and critic in New York; Julie Rose, a translator (from the French) and writer based in Sydney, Australia; and Sarah Whiting, dean of the Rice University School of Architecture and an architect, writer, and critic based in Houston.

Log managing editor David Huber, a California native, is an architecture graduate of the Cooper Union who joined Log in 2010. The Log 24 guest editor is Francois Roche, an internationally renowned architect, author, and teacher based in Paris and who frequently teaches in the United States.

The mission of the Anyone Corporation, founded in 1990, is to advance the knowledge and understanding of architecture and its relationships to the general culture through international conferences, public seminars, and publications that erode boundaries between disciplines and cultures.
